1. Data Cloud (Starter) vs. Data Cloud for Everyone
– Data Cloud for Everyone is a free version of Data Cloud that allows up to 10,000 unified profiles.
– Data Cloud Starter is the lowest-tier paid edition of Data Cloud, which offers additional capabilities.
2. Regional Prerequisites
– Data Cloud is currently only available for orgs in North America and EMEA.
– For APAC and JP customers, the account team should provision customers with an org located in the United States.
3. Not Available for Sandboxes
– Data Cloud can only be activated in production orgs and is not available in sandboxes.
– Alternatively, it can be activated in a Salesforce trial (Enterprise or Unlimited edition).
4. What is a Unified Profile?
– A unified profile is the result of identity resolution, combining demographic and behavioral data from various sources.
– It represents the “golden record” of a person’s data and is not static, but adapts as the source data changes.
5. Data Cloud Doesn’t Merge Records
– Data Cloud unifies records by combining data points, but it does not merge them.
– Source records still exist as they were, and unified profiles are not the same as Salesforce duplicate rules.
