Here are highlights from article Insert Users With Data Loader in Salesforce [Tutorial] | Salesforce Ben
1. Prerequisites and Preparation:
– CSV file must be prepared properly with required fields for adding users via Data Loader.
– Required fields include Alias, Username, Email, First Name, Last Name, Locale, Language, Email Encoding, Time Zone, Currency, and ProfileId.
– Locale, language, email encoding, time zone, and currency field picklist values do not follow the format of their respective picklist value labels from the UI.
2. Inserting the Users:
– Launch Data Loader and log in.
– Select Insert and choose the User object.
– Choose the CSV file and proceed to Mapping.
– Auto-match fields to columns and double-check the mappings.
– Specify the location for saving the “error and success” files and click Finish.
3. Verifying Your Results:
– Data Loader will indicate whether the insertion process was successful.
– Check the error and success files for details.
– The error file should be empty, while the success file should have a complete list of imported users.
– Cross-check the details of inserted users with the original CSV file for accuracy.
4. User License Availability:
– Ensure enough user licenses are available for the number of users being inserted.
– If licenses are not ready, add an “IsActive” column to the CSV file and set values to FALSE.
– Inactive users can be activated later.
5. Password Import Limitation:
– Passwords cannot be imported using Data Loader.
